‘The View’ under pressure to correct the record on DL men
The producers and the co-hosts of “The View” have thus far refused to correct the record regarding HIV infections and men on the down low (DL).
During the June 22 episode of the show, Sherri Shepherd and guest co-host D.L. Hughley erroneously said that DL men are responsible for increased HIV infection rates in black women. That is not true. This blog and many others have since pointed out that fact and asked ABC to correct the record.
Since ABC refuses to correct the record, GLAAD, the National Black Justice Coalition and the Black AIDS Institute took out a full page ad in Variety today, urging that the show correct the record and issue an apology.
I’m a big fan of “The View,” but the show needs to step up and do the right thing. Perhaps Barbara Walters needs to get well soon before her co-hosts run her show into the ground.
This show should “take a little time to do the right thing!”
